Musician pedals around Lake Superior
Jimmy Lovrien, Duluth News Tribune:
Pedaling an average of 81 miles per day for 16 days, folk musician Ben Weaver, 36, will circle Lake Superior with his banjo, guitar and gear strapped to his bicycle. When he pauses to perform 13 times along the way, Weaver partners with environmental groups who help bring in a local audience. Weaver said he wants to spark conversations about the state of freshwater.
Meanwhile, standup paddleboarder Jared Munch – featured in "Meeting the Lake Superior Challenge" from our August/September issue – has almost completed his circumnavigation of Lake Superior. He's resting up in Washburn, Wisconsin, preparing for the final days of paddling. Jared left Duluth in mid-June, traveling clockwise around the Lake.
