Gateway

World

The Legacy of the
Aerial Bridge

The Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation presents a new full-length documentary film about Duluth’s worldwide heritage and the Duluth Aerial Bridge. Destiny’s path takes many turns. From a 17th century battlefield in Belgium to Abraham Lincoln’s billion-dollar savior … from the birth of steel to the mobilization of global economics … all have passed through the Gateway to the World.

Gateway to the World was released for public sale on Tuesday, April 25, 2006. The 74-minute film on DVD, produced by Carlson Media, documents the history of Duluth and the rich stories of its pioneers. Interwoven into the fabric of the tale is the story of the Aerial Lift Bridge and how it has become a symbol of opportunity for our community and for the world.

Duluth-Superior Area Community FoundationGateway to the World represents a collaborative investment in the future of our community. Net proceeds of the sale of this video are contributed to the Duluth Legacy Endowment Fund, a fund of the Duluth-Superior Area Community Foundation. Now 22 years old, the Community Foundation has grown to include 230 charitable funds, all housed under its 501(c)(3) status. Since inception, the Community Foundation has returned $23.7 million to the region through grants made from its funds.
Sales from this DVD release will support Duluth Legacy Endowment Fund whose mission is to enrich the lives of Duluth children, families and supporting organizations. Established in 2005, the fund will disperse grants to benefit the City of Duluth in the following areas:
