GRAND PRIZE

Steve Perry of Sylvania, Ohio

“Blazing Sunset” - Miners Beach, Michigan

17th Annual Lake Superior Photo Contest

Digital photography has definitely revitalized the views photographers can capture around Lake Superior.

This year’s Grand Prize winner benefits from the digital camera’s ability to process more light in low-light situations. The result is a stunning, not enhanced, photo of searing brilliance at Miners Beach.

More than 1,300 images were entered in this year’s contest, and they again gave the judges some pleasantly difficult decisions. The photographers were from 139 different cities, in 17 states and from Canada.

The Grand Prize winner earns $200, a 2012 Lake Superior wall calendar and a one-year subscription to Lake Superior Magazine. The First Place winners each receive a subscription, a wall calendar and a Lake Superior Collection gift package. Second Place winners receive a subscription and a 2012 Lake Superior mini calendar.

The additional finalists will be announced and uploaded February 1st.

It’s not too early to start amassing some photos that you can send this year, by October 15, for the next Lake Superior Photo Contest. See details online.

The next photo contest deadline is October 15, 2012. See contest details online or send a self-addressed, stamped envelope for the rules to Lake Superior Photo Contest, P.O. Box 16417, Duluth, MN 55816-0417.
