The sidewalks along Waterfront Drive, between 2nd and 3rd avenues in downtown Two Harbors, will host Chalk.O.Lot Sidewalk Chalk Festival. This community event is for artists of all ages and levels of ability and for art enthusiasts to observe and enjoy. Registration on Saturday begins at 8 a.m., with an awards ceremony and reception at 6 p.m. Cost to participate is $15, and includes free clinic and instruction, 48 color pastel chalks, latex gloves, sponges for blending, a reserved space, a T-shirt, and artist reception and award ceremony at the Waterfront Gallery. Artists must be 12 and over or assisted by an adult to participate on the sidewalks. Children 11 and under, along with kids of all ages, can participate in their own chalk outline or drawings in the free area. This area does not require pre-registration, and a free box of chalk is included for the first 100 kids. The weekend will also includes a Friday night concert in the park by Ninety to the Dozen at 7 p.m. On Saturday at dusk, enjoy the city sponsored movie Chocolat. Both nights will have $5 burgers and brats from The Pub. Chocolate treats and food will be available for sale in the park Saturday, along with face-painting, temporary tattoos, caricatures and clowns. The event actually gets under way on Friday with free sidewalk drawing technique and tips demonstrated that day at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. by artist Mort McBain from Wausau Chalkfest. He will teach all levels and be available all day Saturday.
