Comic & Sci-Fi Convention at Bayfield Carnegie Library

The Comic & Sci-Fi Convention at the Bayfield Carnegie Library will be Aug. 22, from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and feature John Jackson Miller, best-selling author of "Star Wars: Kenobi." He also has worked on other "Star Wars" novels and comics, as well as Marvel's "Iron Man" comic. He will give a presentation about how to write a comic. At 2:30 p.m., illustrator Jerry Decaire, a professional freelance artist who has worked on Marvel's top-selling titles, including "Thor," "Avengers' Hawkeye," "X-Men," "Iron Man" and "Wolverine, "will conduct a workshop on drawing comics and graphic novels. At 4:30 p.m. is a showing of the PBS documentary "Superheros: A Never-Ending Battle." There also will be a costume contest with prizes, a comic and graphic novels display and vendors. The event is free and is co-sponsored by the Madeline Island Library and Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau.
