The Carlton County Historical Society will hold its 68th Annual Meeting on Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Moose Lake Area Historical Society's Fires of 1918 Museum at 900 Folz Boulevard in Moose Lake.
All CCHS members and the public are welcome to attend. The event is free, and includes refreshments, a short business meeting to vote for new board members, a silent auction and a musical program by Jeanne Doty.
Music has been in Jeanne Doty’s life since she was a young girl. Every family gathering included playing and singing – particularly Finnish folk music. Her family band, The Third Generation, recorded four albums, toured Finland three times, and even performed on Prairie Home Companion in its early days! Now that she has retired as Associate Professor of Music and chair of the keyboard area from UMD, Jeanne has made a commitment to renew her connection with her Finnish roots. Her newest program is entitled Viola Turpeinen – connecting the generations in the Upper Midwest & Carlton County, and Jeanne will actually perform on an instrument given to a 14-year-old Turpeinen. Jeanne also serves on the board of the Arrowhead Regional Arts Council.
Join us for this event and enjoy the music! For more information call the Carlton County Historical Society at 218-879-1938.
