to
North End Arts Gallery 1323 Broadway, 2nd Floor, Superior, Wisconsin 54880
"Puja: Dancing Thrums" by Brika Rekve is an exotic fibers exhibit at the North End Arts Gallery and Luke Chiropractic in the Red Mug Building, 1323 Broadway, in Superior, from April 5 to June 7. Brika, after studying Hindi culture on a number of trips in India, has chosen “Puja,” which means making a spiritual connection, for part of the title of her exhibition. The word “thrums” describes unwoven ends of warp threads used in weaving. She has used old Indian sari remnants, banana fiber, silk, wool, glass and supple tree branches in mandalalike fiber constructions. “Dancing” in the title refers to the importance of movement in the world, her sculptures and life. The exhibit is sponsored by Superior Council for the Arts at the North End Arts Gallery. The building is five blocks south of the Blatnik Bridge (High Bridge) in Superior. Call 715-372-6007 or visit www.superiorcfta.org for more information. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
