'The Art of Ubuntu'
to
Zeitgeist Arts Building 222 East Superior Street , Duluth, Minnesota 55802
Zeitgeist and the Echoes of Peace Choir present "The Art of Ubuntu (I am because we are)," April 28 and 29, at the Zeitgeist Arts Building and ending with a concert at Mitchell Auditorium. Organizers and artists are drawing inspiration from the Zulu term ubuntu (oo-BOON-too), a concept from South Africa meaning "I am because we are." This understanding of interrelatedness is at the root of many of the world's wisdom traditions. It is akin to the deep sense of relationship expressed in the Lakota/Dakota phrase Mitakuye Oyasin, and the Anishinaabe phrase Gakina Awiya Gidinawendimin. We are all related. On Friday is the art exhibit opening at Zeitgeist, 222 E Superior St, with a 5 p.m. reception and 6 p.m. program. On Saturday is the afternoon stage from 2 to 4 p.m. at Zeitgeist, with poetry and spoken word, as well as children's art activities in the atrium lobby. The concert, "One Community - One Song," is at 7: 30 p.m. at Mitchell Auditorium at the College of St. Scholastica, with the Echoes of Peace Choir and guest artists. "The Art of Ubuntu" is co-sponsored by MPR and the College of St Scholastica's Alworth Center. For more information, visit echoesofpeace.org/news-events
