• Jane Kirkholm, Blaine, Minnesota, named Harbor Light Supper Club in Grand Marais, Minnesota. “My husband and I spend one week at Cascade Lodge every October, and we eat at Harbor Light at least three to four times during that week. Harbor Light burger is our favorite.”

• Bob Symons of Thunder Bay had another Grand Marais pick, My Sister’s Place: “They make a fantastic burger called ‘The Juicy Lucy.’”

• Diane Reid of Minneapolis listed three favorite burger stops in Marquette: Vango’s Pizza & Cocktail Lounge, Donckers and Northland Pub in Landmark Inn.

• Jeff Carnes, Lincoln, Nebraska, says: “We came back to Duluth last fall and fell in love with Gronk’s (Grill & Bar) in Superior; best ‘greasy spoon’ burger I ever ate. I even had to tip the cook.”

• Karen Kemi, Duluth, named Anchor Bar in Superior. “Watch them slice the potatoes right before they fry ’em up. Menu is great, not to mention tons of interesting loot on the walls. Great food and a great time!”

• David Carlson, Little Marais, Minnesota: “Gordy’s (Hi-Hat) is not too far from the Lake to qualify, and we do go out of our way to enjoy the food and the crowd in Cloquet. The Stony River Cafe in Isabella actually is as close to the Lake and has great burgers and breakfasts.”

• John Frahm, Greeley, Colorado, likes Four Corners Cafe in Embarrass, Minnesota for “good portions, just the right amount of crispiness vs. juiciness, great toppings.”

• Reya Azami of Zimmerman, Minnesota, says, “I have always enjoyed the burgers at the Trail Center Lodge halfway up the Gunflint Trail.”
