Winners Announced in
12th Annual Lake Superior Photo Contest
The
inquisitive look of a white-tailed deer with a fawn standing behind was
a magic combination for Kirsten Anderson Crouse of Elk River,
Minnesota. She captured the image, titled “Curiosity,” and with
it won the Grand Prize in Lake Superior Magazine’s 12th annual Lake Superior Photo Contest. The judges felt her
photograph combined emotion with technical skills that enrich viewers.
Kirsten receives this year’s top
award of a $250 prize that includes a regional travel package.
The
more than 150 photographers who sent more than 1,200 images to the 12th annual
Lake Superior Photo Contest revealed other dramatic and whimsical moments
around the Big Lake.
Photographer
Diana LeVasseur caught an early winter scene in Munising, Michigan,
with her First Place winning entry, “Early Snow at Alger Falls.” Diana,
from Evanston, Wyoming, receives a $100 package including a
Lake Superior Collection gift
certificate.
A moody and artistically balanced image of
sailboats being passed in the fog by a Great Lakes ore boat won Terry
Lamb of Long Lake, Minnesota, the Second Place prize. “Out of the Fog”
won Terry a $50 prize package that includes
a year’s subscription and a Lake Superior calendar.
There
