Duluth, Minnesota, January 16, 2008 -
Winners Announced in
13th Annual Lake Superior Photo Contest
The
clarity, detail and timelessness of an image by Larry Dunlap of Superior, Wisconsin, has won the Grand Prize in Lake Superior Magazine’s
13th annual Lake Superior Photo Contest. The judges gave unanimous
thumbs-up on the photograph of Gooseberry Falls in full glory. Larry
receives this year’s top
award of a $235 prize. The
more than 150 photographers who sent more than 1,000 images to the contest revealed other dramatic and whimsical moments
around the Big Lake.
First
prize honors were given in three categories: Nature, won by Thomas Ling
of Duluth, Minnesota; Lake/Landscape, won by Jason Funkey of West Palm
Beach, Florida; People/Humor by Michael Lenz of Hermantown, Minnesota.
Each receives a $35 prize package.There
were six Honorable Mention
awards, given to Larry Dunlop of Superior,
Wisconsin; Jennifer Powell, St. Ignace, Michigan; Chris Schlosser, Wausau, Wisconsin; David Bates,
Thunder Bay, Ontario; Ruth Holthuis, Holland, Michigan; and Terry Lamb,
Long Lake, Minnesota.
The February/March 2008 issue of Lake Superior Magazine containing
