The Northeastern Minnesota Book Awards for work published in 2008 were presented at the University of Minnesota Duluth Sunday afternoon, May 17. Howard Sivertson took home the top prize in the Art & Photography Category with his book Driftwood, Stories Picked Up Along the Shore.

This is Howard’s third NEMBA award, winning previously in 1994 with The Illustrated Voyageur and in 2001 for Schooners, Skiffs and Steamships.

This is NEMBA’s 21st year. The awards were presented by the UMD Library, Lake Superior Writers and Friends of the Duluth Public Library, with additional support from Northern Lights Books & Gifts
