Lake Superior Magazine
Names Winners of
Annual Photo Contest

Feb./Mar. 1999Winners have been named in the fourth annual Lake Superior Magazine Photo Contest. The honored competition garnered more than 100 entrants and almost 600 high quality images of Lake Superior area scenes. Winning photos are published in the newest edition of Lake Superior Magazine, February/March 1999, the first of the year to commemorate the magazine’s 20th anniversary.

“This annual competition is a chance for our readers and visitors to show off just how stunning the Lake Superior region is,” says Paul Hayden, editor of the magazine. “It is truly amazing the talent that reveals itself from these amateur photographers, which doesn’t make the judging any easier. The 15 pictures selected as best in the contest make a stunning 7-page photo feature in our February/March 1999 issue that truly captures the essence and beauty of Lake Superior.”

The judging was done by the editorial and design staff of Lake Superior Magazine. Hayden says, “There was extremely close competition, as is evidenced by the increased number of honorable mentions awarded this year. The diversity of the winning entries shows the many interests of people who visit and record the lake in photographs.”

He’ll receive a Nikon Vestrap Photo Vest valued at $110 and an Original Duluth Pack Standard Day Pack, valued at $47.
