Duluth, Minnesota - September 28, 1998
Lake
Superior Magazine recently increased its editorial staff and publishing
potentials with a new managing editor and creation of a senior writer position.
Konnie LeMay comes on board as the managing editor with the current, recently
released October/November 1998 issue, while Hugh Bishop now serves as the
family-owned publisher’s senior writer to undertake book and other projects.
LeMay, born and raised at the fingertip of Lake Superior, returned three
years ago to her home ports of Duluth, Minnesota, and Superior, Wisconsin,
and became news editor of the Daily Telegram in Superior. LeMay
also developed her own design and writing business, KonTexts, preceded
by her work as managing editor at the national Native American newspaper
Indian
Country Today, published in Rapid City, South Dakota.
A 1980 graduate from the University of Minnesota School of Journalism,
LeMay earned a one-year stint with three regional newspapers in France
through a Rotary International Journalsim Scholarship and has worked on
daily newspapers in Grand Forks, N.D., and Bemidji, Minn.
Bishop
brings a 30-year background of journalism, public relations, business and
other writing experience to the newly created position of senior writer.
Formerly editor/publisher of the Lake County News-Chronicle in Two
Harbors, editor/associate publisher with Advanstar Publications in Duluth
and a public relations writer at Bemidji State University and Erie Mining
Company (now LTV Steel Mining), he most recently served as managing editor
of Lake Superior Magazine.
A native of Minnesota, Bishop will be involved in a number of special projects
that Lake Superior Port Cities has under way or planned for the near future,
as well as contributing regularly to the bimonthly magazine and travel
guide. He is a resident of Two Harbors.
Lake Superior Magazine is part of the family-owned publishing company
of Lake Superior Port Cities Inc., which also publishes the Lake Superior
Magazine Travel Guide, maps, calendars and numerous book titles dealing
with Lake Superior regional topics. On the web, it can be found at http://www.lakesuperior.com
