Lake Superior Magazine tapped into some precious metals at the recent
Minnesota Magazine & Publications Association annual excellence awards
in Minneapolis.
Lake Superior Magazine,published in Duluth, earned six awards: Gold
honors for Best Internet Site, Best Media Kit and Best Feature Article;
Silver for Best Use of Visuals and for Best Feature Article and Bronze
for Best Regular Column or Department.
The magazine, which entered in the category of general interest magazine
with a circulation under 50,000, got the top honor awards for its Internet
site at www.lakesuperior.com
and for its map of Lake Superior, the only map with highway and road information
around the entire lake, including the three U.S. states of Minnesota, Wisconsin
and Michigan, and the Canadian province of Ontario. In the Feature Article
category, the magazine won top honors for its light-hearted "20 Conceptions
and Misconceptions of Lake Superior" and took a second place for its "State
of the Lake" feature focusing on sustainable development along the lakeshore.
It earned another second-place award for the use of maps, photos and illustrations
in the annual Travel Guide to Lake Superior. A third-place award was given
to the magazine's regular news section, called "Around the Circle."
Minnesota Magazine & Publications Association, based in Minneapolis,
serves state publications and those who do business with publications.
It received 576 total submissions for its Third Annual Excellence Awards.
Lake Superior Magazineis a full-color publication issued six times
