The State of the Lake cover story, “Our Water Not for Sale,” earned a Gold Award for Lake Superior Magazine.

For magazines with circulations less than 60,000, Lake Superior Magazine took both Gold and Silver in the category of Best Technical Article. Its State of the Lake focus on “Our Water Not For Sale,” written by editor Konnie LeMay and published in February/March 2006, won the Gold. The Silver in Best Technical Article category went to “Wealth of the Land,” a story focusing on the minerals that make up part of this region’s economic and aesthetic resources and written by Gene L. LaBerge, professor emeritus of geology at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and George Robinson, curator of the A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum at Michigan Technological University.
