Here is a photographic tour of Wayne Torke’s home at
Christmas. The story of Wayne Torke’s business, Torke Weihnachten in
Duluth, Minnesota, appears in the Dec./Jan. 2007 issue of Lake Superior Magazine.
In Wayne’s home there are decorated trees in almost every room and
hallway, including the bedroom with four-poster bed. (Wayne got this
bed as a bargain when he asked J.C. Penney to contact him when the
store finished with the bed as a display model.) The unicorn is a
detail of a Lynn West Ornament called “The Golden Unicorn Fairy.” The
rare ornament, for sale in Wayne’s store, is No. 3 of 30 and sells for
$1,725 - the most expensive ornament in the store. Photos by Jack Rendulich.
