Piles of Ice on the Lake Superior Shore in Duluth
In Duluth, a dusting of snow covers piles of ice on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, near the mouth of the Lester River.
On Saturday evening in Duluth, when this photo was snapped, the temperature at the Lake was 10 degrees Fahrenheit. The next morning, the Duluth airport reported a low of 21 below zero.
The U.S. National Weather Service says to expect near-record lows (and highs below zero) in the region through Wednesday.
