Winds out of the south pushed the enormous sheets of ice covering Lake Superior.

A shift in the winds this week pushed the massive sheets of ice on Lake Superior to the northeast, opening up the south shore. Over the weekend, the ice was holding fast to all but the northeastern shore.
The concentration of ice on Lake Superior remains at more than 90 percent.
