St. Louis County Heritage and Arts Center (Depot) 506 West Michigan Street, Duluth, Minnesota 55802
St. Louis County Historical Society will presents Susan C. Mulholland, co-owner and president of Duluth Archaeology Center, Thursday, August 15, from noon to 1 p.m. as part of its Lunch with the History People series. Susan will discuss "A River Runs through It: Archaeology along the Cloquet River in St. Louis County, Minnesota." In 2012, a survey was conducted on the Cloquet River, focusing on the section in St. Louis County, Minnesota. The project was funded by a Minnesota Legacy Grant through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund issued by the Minnesota Historical Society. According to Susan, “the Cloquet River is probably the oldest river in this area.” Her lecture will reveal the archaeological discoveries unearthed during the survey. She has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Duluth. In addition, she has spent several years working in the field as an archaeologist and contributed to several archaeology publications. The event will be in the Ruth Maney Room, on the first floor of the St. Louis County Heritage & Arts Center (the Depot), at 506 West Michigan Street, Duluth, Minnesota. There will be limited theater-style seating (no tables), but feel free to bring your own bag lunch. Seating is first-come, first-served (no reservations). The event is free.
