Vietnam veteran Craig MacIntosh will discuss his latest work of fiction, The Last Lightning, at Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29. Set in Papua New Guinea, his book is the story of an ill-fated P-38 lost during World War II that has become the focus of a modern-day recovery effort, but the recovery effort is more than meets the eye. The story is fiction, but is based on the real-life MIA hunters who continue to bring missing servicemen home. Craig MacIntosh is an author and artist who recently retired from drawing the nationally syndicated Sally Forth cartoon strip. He has authored two novels based on events that happened during World War II, The Last Lighting and The Fortunate Orphans. He served as an infantry platoon leader in Vietnam. He lives in Minnesota.
