Museum Hosts 1918 Fire Exhibit Opening and Program
The Carlton County Historical Society announces the opening of its new exhibit on the Great 1918 Fire with a program presented by the Moose Lake Area Historical Society on Sunday, January 28, at 1 p.m. at the museum in Cloquet.
The program will focus on Moose Lake's experience in the great 1918 fires. The Soo Line Depot in Moose Lake is a 1918 fire survivor and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It now serves as a museum for the Moose Lake Area Historical Society and is a companion building to the Fires of 1918 Museum, also operated by the Moose Lake Area Historical Society. Come and find out about Moose Lake's great loss of life through personal stories of those who lived in Moose Lake at the time of the fire.
This event begins a year-long series of programs and activities commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1918 fire, which began on October 12, 1918.
Refreshments will be served after the program. Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 218-879-1938.
