Carlton County Historical Society 406 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet, Minnesota 55720
The Carlton County Historical Society invites you to step back in time and meet Anna Dickie Olesen, a Cloquet fire survivor, portrayed by Rachael Martin, historical society director, on Saturday, February 24, at 1 p.m. at the museum in Cloquet.
This living history program, called "Full Relief for the 1918 Fire Survivors," is presented in historic costume and takes the audience back to 1923, five years after the Great 1918 Fire. Anna Dickie Olesen will relate her personal experiences during the devastating fire in Cloquet and explain the national cause she is fighting for to see that victims receive payment for their losses. This program takes place surrounded by the new exhibit "A Century Ago – the Great 1918 Fire."
This program continues a year-long series of programs and activities commemorating the 100th anniversary of the 1918 fire, which occurred on October 12, 1918.
Visitors will be able to view the museum's new exhibit, "A Century Ago – The Great 1918 Fire." Refreshments will be served after the program. Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children under 12 and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible.
