Marquette Regional History Center 145 W. Spring Street, Marquette, Michigan 49855
In the summer of 2018 Dr. LouAnn Wurst led a team from Michigan Tech in site work at the former CCC Camp AuTrain to research its use as a prisoner-of-war camp during World War II. In conjunction with the Hiawatha National Forest, this work will continue in 2019. Learn what is being found and conclusions Dr. Wurst has drawn at this presentation. Dr. Wurst wrote an article for us in October 2018, published in the MJ for the week of Archaeology Fair and it was very well received. She is a professor of archaeology. She teaches at Michigan Tech University and specializes in Historical and Industrial Archaeology, Archaeology of Capitalism, Class and Inequality, Marxist Theory and Historic Preservation and Cultural Resource management.
