Blue Plate Lecture Series: Dr. Derek H. Ogle on Inch Lake Fisheries Study

Delta Diner 14385 County Highway H, Delta, Wisconsin 54856
Delta Diner's Blue Plate Lecture Series features Dr. Derek H. Ogle, professor of mathematical sciences & natural resources, with his "First Take on the Long-Term Fisheries Study of Inch Lake in Delta." Overview: Inch Lake is a small lake in Bayfield County that was opened to the public as a catch-and-release only fishery for all species in 2006. In 2007, students at Northland College, in cooperation with the Wisconsin DNR, began a long-term study to monitor the Inch Lake fish Community to better understand the effects of this rare complete no-harvest regulation on fish populations. In this lecture, Dr. Ogle will discuss, for the first time publicly, the findings from the first six years of this study. Preliminary analyses suggest an interesting story about the bluegill and largemouth bass communities that may provide insight into the management of these species in other waters. We look forward to using Dr. Ogle’s lecture to introduce two specials: our take on seafood gumbo, followed by the main dish – diner jambalaya. Desert will be our simple bread pudding. The event runs from 6:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The cost is $28 per person, including lecture, meal and drink. Reservations are required. Order tickets at deltadiner.com.
