Book Talk at Museum
to
Carlton County Historical Society 406 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet, Minnesota 55720
The Carlton County Historical Society welcomes Nancy Lee, author of the newly published novel "The Island" about Cloquet's Dunlap Island during the 1918 fire, on Friday, August 21 at 1 p.m. at its museum in Cloquet.
Nancy is no stranger to Cloquet. She and her family lived in Cloquet from 1972 to 1981, when her husband, Gilbert Lee, was Pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Three of her children graduated from Cloquet High School. A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, Nancy raised six children before becoming a teacher of English Literature. She also wrote articles for Scope magazine, a women's periodical published by the American Lutheran Church, about her adventures as a mother. She traveled extensively as a speaker for church women's groups. "The Island" is Nancy's first novel, set in historic Cloquet.
Nancy will present a slide show about her novel, giving us a peek into the story and its background in history. She will also tell us about her experience of publishing a book for the first time. After the program, refreshments will be served and autographed copies of her book will be available for sale.
Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. As a Blue Star Museum, all active U.S. military personnel and their families are offered free admission this summer. The museum is handicapped accessible.
