Matinee Musicale is pleased to welcome the Brasil Guitar Duo for a performance in Duluth on Tuesday, April 9. They will also offer a two-hour educational program at North Shore Community School on April 8.
João Luiz and Douglas Lora met in São Paulo, Brazil as teenage guitar students, and have been performing together for more than 15 years. 2006 winners of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, and hailed by Classical Guitar magazine for their “maturity of musicianship and technical virtuosity,” the Brasil Guitar Duo is equally at home on a classical or a world-music series. The duo has established a broad repertoire of classical music and the traditional music of their native land: choro samba, maxixe and baião. The Brasil Guitar Duo will perform works by Rameau, M. Castelnuovo-Tedesco, as well as their own compositions.
Matinee Musicale ticket prices are $20 for Adults, $18 for Seniors, and $6 for Students; tickets are general admission.
