The Chequamegon Symphony with the Northland Festival Choir will perform "Choral Music of Brahms and Beethoven," Saturday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Presbyterian-Congregational Church at 214 Vaughn Avenue, Ashland.
"Choral Music of Brahms and Beethoven" will be in combination with the Northland Festival Choir with Dr. Russell Thorngate conducting and featuring piano soloist Neil Paynter.
Paynter, a Massachusetts native, has lived most of his life in the Great Lakes region. He moved to Ashland from the Pacific Northwest in 2014. An Eastman School of Music composition major, he has composed incidental music for theatrical productions and church services. Known regionally as a chamber music performer, church musician and community choir accompanist, Paynter has performed in Duluth, Superior, Madeline Island and across Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. His most exotic performing experience was accompanying the Michigan Tech Concert Choir on their 2002 tour of Brazil.
