What is Law Enforcement currently doing to equip its current and future police officers with the knowledge and path needed to positively interact with those different than them? Join Dr. Shawn Williams, assistant professor at Saint Cloud State University, to discuss this question and more. Williams brings 17 years of police officer experience with him among being the creator and only MN POST certified instructor of cultural Intelligence in Law Enforcement. This presentation will explore the current situation of policing and how to move forward.
Presenter: Dr. Shawn Williams is currently an assistant professor at St. Cloud State University in the state of Minnesota. In that position, he currently leads and runs the Professional Peace Officer Education program which assists students in becoming Peace Officers in the state of Minnesota. Dr. Williams also brings with him 17 years of police officer experience in which encompasses, just short of a decade as a SWAT officer and lead trainer for the state of Minnesota’s largest police force, in-service and pre-service. Shawn has also led the use of force training at the state's largest SKILLS training facility in the state of Minnesota. He has also held positions as a robbery investigator, community policing officer, and created a communications course that is still running today. Shawn is currently the creator and only MN POST certified instructor of cultural Intelligence in Law Enforcement and is regularly sought out to interact with media outlets regarding controversial issues in Law Enforcement.
