Learn the value of both native and greenhouse plants as food source for pollinators. Great enjoyment can be gained by creating a flower container that will thrive in a specific site and augment the natural beauty of an area.
Module 1: Explore the benefits of growing vegetables in containers when soil conditions are less than optimum, space is limited, or a longer growing season is needed.
Module 2: Design and plant an annual flower container to take home, choosing from a selection of pre-selected plants.
Learn the basics of soil structure; plant/site selection; seeds and pollination; plants that attract birds, butterflies and bees; native versus greenhouse plants; and container design. Bring your own favorite planter or purchase one from instructor. Plants, soil and fertilizer provided.
Fee: $52 with planter provided by the student / $77 with planter purchased from the instructor.
