Commemorative Air Force Lake Superior Squadron 101 4931 Airport Road, Duluth, Minnesota 55811
The Northland Veterans Service Committee will hold a dedication and unveiling of the David Wheat Statue Friday, June 5, at the Commemorative Air Force Lake Superior Squadron, 4931 Airport Road, in Duluth at 4 p.m. The committee commissioned Tim Cleary, a still-life sculptor, to create the monument to honor Duluth’s native son, Commander David Wheat, who served as a navigator and was a prisoner of war for seven and a half years during the Vietnam War. This sculpture will honor David and all POW/MIA’s who fought, have died or were imprisoned during the Vietnam War. The event is open to the public. The Northland Veterans Service Committee is a committee of citizens who honor the service of Northland veterans and service members.
