"Diggity Dog Days," a One-Woman Puppet Show
to
The Duluth Play Ground 11 E. Superior St., Duluth, Minnesota 55802
Margo McCreary, Twin Cities puppeteer, will be performing “Diggity Dog Days” at The Play Ground Nov. 29 through Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Thursday, Nov. 29 show is ASL interpreted.
“Diggity Dog Days” is a one woman puppet show created by Margo McCreary. Marya Hart, Twin Cities composer and lyricist, wrote a jazzy score and songs for Jack the Dog to sing about freedom, love and brooding. Ms. Hart performs live for this production along with drummer, Bruce Wintervold. The show was directed by Zaraawar Mistry who is a writer, actor, director, the creator of several original theatrical works, and proprietor of a little blackbox theater in St. Paul, MN. called Dreamland Arts.
The show is inspired by a real dog. Audiences will enjoy the antics of Jack the Dog, a puppet character that comes to life with nuanced movement and zest. When changes in Jack’s aging owner's life begin to affect his everyday routine, Jack the dog responds doggedly, causing confusion and distress for all.
Margo McCreary and Marya Hart will be teaching workshops in puppetry and music theater on Sat. Dec. 1, 9 a.m. to noon at the Duluth Children’s Museum.
