Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), a nonprofit organization serving veterans statewide, will be holding the annual Duluth Veterans’ StandDown at the Historic Union Depot. All veterans seeking services are welcome. On-site assistance available includes free lunch, clothing, VA benefit information, legal assistance (including a court component), housing and employment assistance and referrals, chemical dependency recovery groups, DMV, haircuts, chaplaincy, and public benefits information. Resources and assistance is available for U.S. veterans who are homeless, at risk of being homeless, or seeking benefits or assistance at MACV Duluth StandDown 2012. And returning this year, court issues are misdemeanors, petty misdemeanors, tickets, and non-felony warrant-surrenders, with any higher-level crimes being referred to therapeutic courts.
