The Ely Winter Festival is famed for the outstanding snow sculptures created for its International Snow Sculpting Symposium. The festival also includes an Amateur Snow Carving Contest, the Ely Art Walk, food, music, a craft fair and a voyageur encampment. Another fun part of the festival is the Voyageur Outward Bound School's guided snowshoe trek to the Hegman Lake pictographs.
