The Basics of Native Plant Gardening: Going Beyond Pollinator-Friendly. Presented by Terry Serres
Gardening with native plants isn't any more difficult than "conventional" gardening, and it is so rewarding – to yourself, your community and the environment. In this presentation we will discuss basic principles, advantages, challenges and ideas for getting started. We'll see photographs of native plant gardens that will inspire you, and we'll provide resources for expertise and materials. Terry is completing a Master's program in forest ecology at the University of Minnesota. He has professional certifications in wetland delineation and ecological restoration and has also taught professional enrichment courses on botanical topics for foresters and naturalists. He is active in the Minnesota Native Plant Society and Wild Ones. Originally a conventional gardener, he has ramped up his commitment to native plant gardening and finds himself on an exciting learning curve.
