CELEBRATE FINNISH INDEPENDENCE DAY AT CLOQUET MUSEUM
The Carlton County Historical Society celebrates 100 years of Finnish independence with a program about the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala, at its museum in Cloquet on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 1 p.m.
Join museum director, Rachael Martin, as she presents a slide show about the ancient folklore of Finland and the publication of the Kalevala, leading to Finland's independence, which took place on December 6, 1917, one hundred years ago. Find out how old the Kalevala stories are, who the main characters are, and how this epic contributed to Finnish independence.
Refreshments will be served after the program and visitors will have an opportunity to visit the museum's holiday exhibit featuring Finland's independence. Regular admission is $3 for adults, $1 for children under 12, and free admission for children under 5 and Carlton County Historical Society members. The museum is handicapped accessible. For more information, call 218-879-1938.
