Free Polaroid Demo
to
Duluth Art Institute 506 West Michigan Street, Duluth, Minnesota 55802
The Duluth Art Institute is offering a free workshop and demonstration based on the exhibit "Instant Love: Polaroid, Land Cameras, and the Impossible Project," Thursday, November 8. Maggie Holmes, photographer and instant film enthusiast, will give a presentation on her Polaroid transfer technique using a Polaroid Day Lab system. A fascinating process for artists and non-artists, Polaroid transfers combine skill and chance and always come out interesting. The event starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Duluth Art Institute galleries on the fourth floor of the Depot. The "Instant Love" exhibit runs through November 23 and highlights the wistful love for the antiquated, and everfascinating, "instant" print. Ever since American inventor and physicist Edward Land introduced his Model 95 camera in 1948, artists and amateurs alike have been experimenting with the expansive possibilities this technology provides.
