Garden Talks Winter Series: Urban Farming

Garden Talks Winter Series 2015 presents Urban Farming with Tom Hanson of Duluth Grill. Too many cities today are "food deserts," where affordable and nutritious food is difficult to obtain, particularly for those without a car. Tom is a leader in the movement to change this. He is always finding creative ways to turn unproductive land into lush garden space at his home and at his restaurant in Duluth. He will share photos and ideas for transforming your lawn into a beautiful and productive garden. The program runs 6 to 8 p.m. January 29 at Fairlawn Mansion, as part of the Garden Talks series. The cost is $15 for the one event, or $40 for any three talks in the series that runs through April 9. Call 715-394-5712 for advance registration. Seating is limited and sessions often sell out. All proceeds from the Garden Talks go to the Gardens of Fairlawn. Treats this year will be provided by professional trained pastry chefs The Sweet Guys.
