The annual Grand Portage Rendezvous is celebrated every year during the second weekend of August in conjunction with the Rendezvous Days Powwow, sponsored by the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa (Ojibwe). Grand Portage comes alive and reflects on its rich heritage. Reenactors from across the country and Canada gather to camp and challenge each other to games and skills from our historic past. Music, dancing, craft demonstrations and hands-on workshops are included. This year's annual Rendezvous Days and Powwow is August 7 to 9 at Grand Portage National Monument, which has no entrance fee. 218-475-0123. www.nps.gov/grpo.
