The 2015 Great Lakes Shipwreck Historical Society Annual Meeting and Dinner will be Saturday, June 6, at the Paradise Community Center in Paradise, Michigan, 11 miles south of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum. The speaker is Jeff Gray, superintendent of the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary in Alpena, Michigan. The event starts at 5 p.m. with beverages and a silent auction, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and the annual meeting and speaker at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 per person. Special lodging rates for society members are available at several Paradise hotels for June 5-6. Auction items include fine art prints, unique Whitefish Point Lighthouse souvenirs, and Shipwreck Museum logo apparel. In addition, Shipwreck Museum Executive Director Bruce Lynn will present “Tragedy and Discovery off the Shipwreck Coast: The Wreck of the Schooner Nelson” at the Shipwreck Museum Friday, June 5, at 7 p.m., and there is no charge for GLSHS members.
