Ham Run Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run

Ham Run Half Marathon and 5K Fun Run are for runners of all levels. The Half Marathon will begin at Gunflint Pines Resort and Campground on South Gunflint Lake Road, 43 miles from Grand Marais, Minnesota. The Half Marathon course winds its way through Superior National Forest along the scenic Gunflint Trail. The race begins with an uphill climb for a little over 1 mile on gravel. Runners will reach the pavement of the Gunflint Trail and encounter numerous hills as they run northwest toward the end of the trail. The race finish is at the Trail's End Campground and Way of the Wilderness Canoe Outfitters. The 5k Fun Run also starts at 10 a.m., but it begins at Seagull Creek Fishing Camp at the intersection of Blankenburg Road and the Gunflint Trail. Participants will run the relatively flat Gunflint Trail to the end of the Trail and Way of the Wilderness. There also will be a Children's Little Runt Run from 1 p.m. to 1:15 p.m., followed by the awards ceremony.
