Celebrate National Trails Day, the North Country National Scenic Trail and the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway.Hike in the Brule River State Forest on the popular Brule Bog Boardwalk at the headwaters of the St. Croix and Bois Brule Rivers, 5 mile round trip. Your hike leader will be Reed Schwarting, botanist at UW-Superior's Lake Superior Research Institute. At noon, enjoy a potluck picnic with other outdoor folks; bring a dish to share. After the picnic, paddle on Upper St. Croix Lake, part of the historic canoe route between Lake Superior and the Mississippi River watershed. Sponsored by the North Country Trail Association's Brule-St. Croix Chapter, the St. Croix River Association and the Friends of the St. Croix Headwaters.
