The Hillside Neighborhood in Duluth celebrates Sunday with the 9th annual HillFest, a neighborhood street festival for anybody who lives, works or enjoys the Hillside. The community-building event takes place at the intersection of East 4th Street and 6th Avenue East and begins at 2 p.m. The event features a stage with the following performances: 2:15 p.m., CHOICE, unlimited Dance; 2:45 p.m., Pet Parade; 3 p.m., Woodblind; 4 p.m., Daniel Oyinloye. Food and arts and crafts will be available from 2-6 p.m. A variety of free activities are planned including live entertainment on stage, assorted games, a bounce house sponsored by The River Church, rock climbing wall and a youth 3on3 hoops tournament. The annual fundraising Tofu Toss will start at 5 p.m.
New this year is a pet parade and a bicycle safety clinic. Costumes for pets are encouraged. Parade line up begins at 2:45 p.m. Children participating in the bike safety activities will receive a free helmet from Safe Kids NE Minnesota. Bikes are available for loan from YMCA’s Community Bike Fleet at the event.
