International Day of Peace Celebration
to
Bridgeview Park , Michigan 49931
On Wednesday, September 21, International Day of Peace, the Copper Country community is invited to join Keweenaw Faith United in the dedication of Peace Poles in Hancock and Houghton.
Keweenaw Faiths United is a faith-based effort to promote respect for all people in our community, and In October 2021, Houghton and Hancock were designated as International Cities of Peace, aspiring to be a welcoming community and seek to be peacemakers by standing with all our neighbors. One of our projects was to encourage the planting of Peace Poles in the cities of Houghton and Hancock. They would be places for quiet reflection or for a community gathering or vigil. The City of Hancock placed one at the Campground, and another at the Labyrinth, close to the Ramada on the lakeshore. Houghton is placing two of these at Bridgeview Park.
