Joey Molland's Badfinger at Calumet Theatre
to
Calumet Theatre 340 Sixth St., Calumet, Michigan 49913
Joey Molland’s Badfinger takes the stage at the historic Calumet Theatre on Friday, June 26. Molland has been the lead guitarist for the group Badfinger almost from its start in 1969 under the sponsorship of the Beatles and their Apple Records publishing label. The Beatles helped get Badfinger going, performing with them, giving them hit songs to record, and even giving them their name, which referred to a time when John Lennon sprained one of his fingers while playing the piano during a rehearsal, and had to play with his “bad finger.”
From 1970 to 1972 Badfinger had four super hit singles: "Come and Get It," "No Matter What," "Day After Day," and "Baby Blue." In 2013, "Baby Blue" was the featured song at the end of the series finale of the hit TV show “Breaking Bad,” giving it a post-mortem resurgence back to #14 in the U.S. charts.
Throughout the decades, members of Badfinger have come and gone, but Joey Molland, the group’s lead guitarist, stayed on, performing almost continuously since 1969 with the band. As a result of a split in the group in 1981, the band is now called Joey Molland’s Badfinger. Though born and raised in Liverpool, Molland married a girl from Minnesota. He regularly tours the U.S., performing many of his band’s greatest hits.
Tickets: $35, $32, $27 for reserved seating, member discount. Ticket prices will be higher day of the show.
