Labor Day Program
to
Carlton County Historical Society 406 Cloquet Avenue, Cloquet, Minnesota 55720
The Carlton County Historical Society welcomes Mike Kuitu, coordinator of the Carlton County Labor Day celebration, to the museum to present a Labor Day program on Friday, August 26, at 1 p.m.
Kuitu grew up in Cloquet, graduated from Cloquet High School and worked as an operating engineer in the Local 49 labor union. He now resides in Duluth and is president of the Carlton County Central Labor Body. For many years he has organized the Labor Day celebration in Cloquet, but not as far back as its origin 96 years ago. Kuitu will relate the history of this annual event and give us a detailed description of what to expect for this year's celebration.
This program complements the museum's current exhibit, "The Power of Pins," which includes a collection of pins, historic photos and a history of Carlton County's Labor Day celebration. After the program, refreshments will be available.
Regular admission is $2 for adults, $1 for children under 12 and free admission for children under 5, Carlton County Historical Society members and active military personnel and their families as a Blue Star Museum participant. The museum is handicapped accessible and air conditioned.
