Port Wing, Wisconsin, is planning to have exhibits, food and a concert, as well as other activities, the weekend of July 19 & 20 to celebrate Lake Superior Day, which officially is Sunday, July 20. Included on the schedule Saturday: market with vendors 9 a.m., Town Hall Pavilion; "Stop Aquatic Hitchhikers" free boat power washes at the harbor, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Everett Fisheries' smokehouse tours, 10 a.m. to noon; and quilt and National Fish Hatchery exhibits at the Town Hall. all day. On Sunday, events include: at 9 a.m., the quilt and National Fish Hatchery exhibits; Everett Fisheries' smokehouse tours, 10 a.m. to noon; U.S. Coast Guard vessel tours, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the harbor; lunch available for purchase at noon at Town Hall; and Laura Erickson, birding expert, author and radio host, will speak 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Town Hall. Musician and singer-songwriter Michael Monroe of Grand Marais, Minnesota, will perform a concert at 2 p.m. at Town Hall.
