Join us for a reading with two Duluthians.
Jeannine Ouellette spent her childhood in Duluth and is the author of the memoir The Part That Burns (Split/Lip Press, 2021), which received starred reviews from Kirkus and Publishers Weekly and was a Kirkus Best 100 Indie Book of 2021. She is the recipient of a Margarita Donnelly Prize, Curt Johnson Fiction Award, Proximity Essay Award, Masters Review Emerging Writer’s Award, two recent Pushcart nominations, as well as awards from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Medill School of Journalism. Her work has been praised by Melissa Febos as "tender and devastating," by Michele Filgate as "incandescent," and by Joyce Carol Oates as “simply beautiful, precisely imagined, poetically structured, compelling, and vivid.” Jeannine teaches writing through the University of Minnesota, the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop, and Elephant Rock, an independent creative writing program she founded in 2012.
Tim Moder is an Indigenous poet living in northern Wisconsin. He is a member of Lake Superior Writers. His poetry has appeared in a variety of literary magazines and journals, including Parentheses Literary Magazine, Pittsburgh Poetry Journal, the South Florida Poetry Journal, Sisyphus Magazine, and other venues.
