The Marquette Regional History Center presents Saturday at the Center February: Roaring in with the 1920s. February 15, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join the History Center for a day filled with everything 1920s.
The Olympics were in Paris, women could newly vote in the U.S.A, and skyscrapers started to spring up around the country. In Marquette County, with WWI over and the boys back home, the band shell at Presque Isle was hopping with tunes by Duke Ellington, Gershwin and “Show Boat” musical numbers. In honor of dogsled weekend, we’ll look back on the renowned 1920s initiation of this dog team racing sport. Find out why the '20s were called “roaring” through sights, sounds, stories and sayings of the time. We will have displays, activities and entertainment during this month's Saturday at the Center. Program included with museum admission. Come anytime! Please visit www.marquettehistory.org or call 906-226-3571 for more info.
