The Old-Brule Heritage Society is sponsoring its annual Midsummer Scandinavian Dinner Saturday, June 15, at Lakeside Town Hall, and tours of the Davidson Windmill and Eskolin Log House, a few miles east of Superior, Friday, June 21, and Saturday, June 22. The windmill tours will be held from 3-5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. The historic site is 3.5 miles east of the junction of U.S. 2/53 and Wisconsin Highway 13 in the town of Lakeside. Free-will donations will be accepted. The dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Lakeside Town Hall, 3196 Poplar River Rd., just off Highway 13. The public is invited. Enjoy a great meal and good conversation. Proceeds from the meal are used for the preservation of the windmill and Eskolin House and also a railroad depot and sauna to be added to the site this summer. The menu consists of Finnish beef stew (mojakka), Swedish rice pudding and Norwegian fruit soup, along with homemade breads, bars and beverages.
